Wireline and Mobile Services Driving Demand for DNS Servers and IP Addresses: 2000-2004

Abstract: This report summarizes the results of a study conducted during mid-2000 on the increase in demand for Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, domain names and Domain Name System (DNS) servers as a result of rapid growth of telecommunication services. Two telecommunication areas, where new "always-on" IP-based network services are becoming available, were studied: wireline broadband access and mobile broadband access.
