		• 3G Wireless Data – As mobile operators develop plans to offer 3G services they will have to understand the traffic characteristics of individual services. Traffic characteristics, in addition to traffic volumes, influence the configuration and capacity of 3G networks. This report provides traffic characteristics information for twelve of the planned 3G services. • UMTS Third Generation Market – A study of worldwide service forecasts for 3G mobile networks as well as present a framework for future market studies and forecasts. The study was carried out by the consulting company Telecompetition, Inc. under the guidance of and with contributions from the Market Aspects Group (MAG) of the UMTS Forum. • IMS Service Vision for 3G Markets – This report explains the IMS concept and illustrates the benefits of IMS to the end-user experience as well as to the mobile operator. It illustrates that IMS provides a standardised solution for enhancing the end-user experience that cannot be easily duplicated by any known technology today. In addition, a vision of IMS is portrayed that includes interoperability between fixed and mobile IP networks that will further the possibility of a common satisfactory end-user experience across services, networks, and devices. • Long Term Potential Remains High for 3G Mobile Data Services – 2001 was a challenging year for the wireless industry. As we approach mid-second quarter 2002, industry participants around the globe are announcing their 2001 results and are striving to appropriately set investor expectations. The continued economic downturn has prompted renewed concerns about the near-term commercial viability of mobile data services, including 3G. This report re-examines the worldwide market demand for 3G services in light of these new market challenges and provides renewed confidence in the validity of the UMTS Forum 3G forecasts released in Report 17, August 2001. • 3G Portal Study – This “3G Portal Study” takes a snapshot of current trends in mobile portal technologies, standards and services, and provides a quick reference to mobile operators, portal operators, manufacturers and content developers. • Internet Address Explosion – This report summarizes the results of a study conducted during mid-2000 on the increase in demand for Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, domain names and Domain Name System (DNS) servers as a result of rapid growth of telecommunication services. Two telecommunication areas, where new "always-on" IP-based network services are becoming available, were studied: wireline broadband access and mobile broadband access.
